Twisting and Turning

“The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord.”

— Proverbs 19:3

Sometimes in our foolishness, our foolish thinking, we twist things around to make something “work” and in turn it becomes an attempt to justify our decision or action ( 2 Samuel 11 :1 – 12:14 – David’s offense to Uriah by taking his wife, Bathsheba). All along we have actually made the situation worse.

Our situation may not be as extreme as what David did, but the base of what he did, at the core of it, was to make something look good when in reality it was bad from the beginning.

Because of our decision to twist our way, we have chosen to go against the L-RD and while we may not be aware of it at the time, our heart frets against the L-RD. We are constantly anxious and worried.

What we ought to do, what we need to do, is be up front and honest. We need to be people of integrity and of honorable character and admit openly when we were wrong in a decision and deal with what comes after that. If we don’t, we prolong the matter and the weight of the consequences increases.
