It is important that we first understand one truth.
“For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”– Malachi 3:6 NKJV
G-d does not change, at all. Therefore, I stand with Israel.
It is sad to see so many side against Israel, including the United States of America, as well as some Christians. G-d promised the Israelites the land they are on, not anyone else.
G-d made a covenant with Abram/Abraham that was eternal. Genesis 15 covers this agreement. Culturally, when two people went into an agreement, both would pass between the pieces of the sacrificed animals for the purpose of the agreement, crossing over the blood that was spilled from them. However, what we see in Genesis 15 is only the L-RD passing over the blood. This means that the agreement was not bound based on Abraham keeping any part of the agreement. It was solely based and bound on G-d keeping His Word. G-d keeps His promises.
Remember Malachi 3:6, the L-RD does not change.
It is also important to remember, that within Malachi 3:6, it is Jacob mentioned as the one that will not be consumed, not anyone else.
G-d made a promise that He would give Abraham a son and that his descendants will be as the stars, not being able to number them because they will be many (Genesis 15:5), he will be the father of many nations (Genesis 17:4-5) and his name was changed from Abram to Abraham.
Now, out of lack of faith, Sarai/Sarah told Abram to go into her maidservant to bear a child with her since Sarai was barren at the time. Out of lack of faith, Abram agreed (Genesis 16). This was an act of the flesh, not an act of faith. We later see how this act of flesh brought turmoil to the house of Abraham.
In Genesis 17, we see more details in the promise that G-d gives to Abraham and Sarah. G-d confirms that the seed of Abraham will come through Sarah his wife, not through Ishmael. (Genesis 17:19). In verse 20, the L-RD continues and says He will bless the descendants of Ishmael also, but in verse 21, the L-RD restates His promise is through Isaac and says when Isaac will arrive.
Again, let’s remember Malachi 3:6, the L-RD does not change, which means that His promises NEVER change.
This is why in Malachi 3:6, we see the L-RD state, “Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” Jacob was the son of Isaac, not Ishmael.
As for the Christians who believe that this covenant was broken by the actions of Israel’s disobedience, REMEMBER it was only the L-RD that passed over the blood of the covenant sacrifice. The agreement was not based on the actions of Abraham nor his descendants. Also, to further solidify this, in Matthew 5, Jesus is teaching the “Sermon on the Mount” and in verses 17-19 Jesus says that He did not come to destroy the Law, but rather to fulfill the Law. He continues to say that we are to continue in the Law, teach others the Law, and live it out. In Hebrews 13:8, it says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore, Jesus’ teachings of the Law still stand and are still valid; which in turn means that the Law of G-d still stands and is still valid.
G-d does not destroy agreements that He has made. Israel is the L-RD’s chosen people and His Name is YHVH, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is how He is identified whenever there is a need for clarification on His identity that separates Him from other gods.
We must also remember that Jacob’s name was changed by the L-RD to Israel; not Ishmael. Again, Ishmael was the fruit of the fleshly actions done of Abram and Sarai in their lack of faith in the L-RD’s promise to Abram. It is Israel that G-d will protect and her allies (those who stand with her), because it is through Isaac, the son through faith, that the descendants of Abraham came.
In Genesis 12:3, it states, when G-d was talking to Abram:
“I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”– Genesis 12:3 NKJV
This promise is not only to Abram, but His descendants as well, the Israelites, the Jewish nation.
We must also remember the promises that the L-RD continued to give Israel.
- Amos 9:14-15
- Ezekiel 37:10-14; 21-22
- Isaiah 66:7-8
- Jeremiah 16:14-15
These prophecies and others were fulfilled in 1948. The L-RD keeps His promises, always.
I am a follower of YHVH, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I also believe in Jesus as the Moshiach.
I am a Christian and I stand with Israel.
